Over 700 vehicles have been added to the Motability Scheme this spring
Adult Disability Payment has now replaced new claims being made for Personal Independence Payment for people over 16 and under State Pension age living in Scotland. The new devolved benefit means that people of working age with a disability, long-term illness or physical or mental health condition can now apply for support from Social Security Scotland instead of the Department for Work and Pensions , which administers PIP.
While vehicles will still be available to lease from Motability, this will be done through the Accessible Vehicles and Equipment Scheme for new claimants and eventually, existing claimants whose current lease comes to an end - assuming they have transferred from PIP or DLA to Adult Disability Payment by that time.
The new spring Price List from the Motability Scheme has now been released and includes over 700 affordable cars and wheelchair accessible vehicles . There’s also a wider range of options, and all leases include the Scheme’s ‘worry-free’ package.Top Money Stories Today Highlights on the new Price List are the Kia Stonic, available with no advance payment, and the popular Nissan Qashqai.
How the new scheme works Social Security Scotland guidelines state: “When you lease a vehicle through the scheme, it will be with our authorised provider, Motability Operations Ltd.”You can find more information about the scheme on the Motability website, here.
