The Defense Secretary is considering sending additional military forces to the Middle East to deter Iranian attacks, the Pentagon's policy chief acknowledged after initially trying to knock down a news report that said as many as 14,000 troops could go

Defense Secretary Mark Esper is considering sending additional military forces to the Middle East to deter Iranian attacks, the Pentagon’s policy chief acknowledged Thursday after initially trying to knock down a news report that said as many as 14,000 troops could go.

“We’re concerned about the threat stream that we’re seeing and I would note we’re going to come to brief the committee in closed session in a week on that very topic,” he said, without describing the intelligence the military has received. “It is possible that we would need to adjust our force posture, and I think that would be a prudent step based on what we observe.”, Rood called it an “erroneous item” since “we haven’t made a decision to deploy an additional 14,000 troops.

Pressed to explain his criticism of the article and Farah’s statement given his testimony that additional deployments are under consideration, Rood wouldn’t clarify whether he took issue with the 14,000 number or with how the article portrayed the seriousness of the consideration being given to the deployment.

World's Leading Men Talk Shit Like a Middle School CliqueWorld's Leading Men Talk Shit Like a Middle School CliqueIn junior high, I was all set to compete in a talent show with my three best friends. We were to do a dance routine to a song called 123456 Bass. Yet just before the show, the group asked me to design the costumes instead, and I learned that for weeks, they had been meeting secretly to practice and gossip about how bad I was at dancing. All this is to say, for once, I understand exactly what President Donald Trump is going through.
