Outgoing House SpeakerPelosi mocked for wishing 'Happy Shwanza' in final speech in that role
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used her final remarks as speaker to wish everyone a"Happy Shwanza" following the passing of the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill.
The soon-to-be former speaker closed the 2022 session of Congress by sharing holiday greetings, including incorrectly pronouncing the African American holiday Kwanzaa, an annual celebration held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1."I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe New Year. Happy Holidays. Merry Christmas. Happy Shwanza. Happy Hanukah," said Pelosi on the House floor."Whatever it is you celebrate, be safe.
This gaffe prompted social media users to mock Pelosi by wishing others to have a"happy Shwanza." Others joked that she had already started drinking for the holidays.
