At least four pedestrians have been struck by vehicles in the past week near downtown Anchorage
A woman was struck by a cargo van while she was walking across Fifth Avenue early Thursday near downtown Anchorage, police said.
The woman was “in or near a crosswalk” at Ingra Street when the westbound van struck her around 4:48 a.m., police wrote in aThe driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, according to police. Charges had not been filed by around 6:30 a.m. The northbound lanes of Ingra were closed Thursday morning at Sixth Avenue and all lanes of Fifth Avenue were closed at Karluk Street.Linda BaxterA pickup truck hit two men who were crossing Gambell Street near 15th Avenue on Sunday evening. One pedestrian initially was said to have life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive, said police spokeswoman Renee Oistad.
