Lacey Tezino — the founder of Passport Journeys, a company with an app that helps mothers and daughters bond and build better relationships — shows off her glamping setup with her daughter, Ziggy, 4."I'm not a clinician, but I knew that the activity book was not enough. So many women are hurting, so I wanted to bring professional care to mother-daughter pairs."
Tezino launched her app in the fall and now has nine licensed clinicians. Each mother-daughter pair completes a questionnaire, and they are then matched with a therapist based on their answers. The monthly subscription includes two therapy sessions with intentional bonding activities, including journaling and worksheets. So far, five mother-daughter pairs have used the app."The mother-daughter relationship is really an unchartered territory in the therapy world.
"In the relationship between mothers and daughters, it's often hard to hear each other," Miller said."There's a disconnect between what one person is saying and what the other one is hearing. Also, motherhood is so much work, and you wear so many hats that you are constantly triggered. We may respond in ways that we don't always mean."
