Officers stopped a vehicle at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Crocker Road and Hilliard Boulevard for an equipment violation, when they spotted signs of drug use.
The 19-year-old Garfield Heights driver handed over a small amount of what he described as marijuana. Investigation revealed that the passenger had a loaded firearm under his seat. The passenger, a 19-year-old from the same city, owned the car. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm. Both charges are felonies as the suspect was less than 21.Crocker Park security employees called the Westlake Police Department at 10:30 p.m. on Aug.
Westlake officers recovered syringes and pills into evidence and filed a fresh charge of possession of drug abuse instruments.A Westlake police department dispatcher stopped an attempted fraud and recovered the victim’s cash, according to a police press release. The police dispatcher contacted UPS and the Houston Police Department to intercept the package before it fell into the hands of bad actors in Texas. The money was returned to its grateful owner.
Officers discovered that the driver ran into a downed tree in the street that had been damaged in the storm. The vehicle had heavy front-end damage, and the driver pulled the vehicle onto the curb after striking the debris. The driver appeared intoxicated and was field tested.
