The new Universal Credit changes which come in under two weeks will see claimants have to up their working hours or risk losing the benefit

From May, parents on Universal Credit will see some changes coming in. Payments will be issued early for many, due to the two bank holidays in May. And others may see a boost to their payments after Universal Credit rose by 6.7% in April.

This is due to the Administrative Earnings Threshold rising to to £892 per calendar month for individual customers and £1437 per calendar month for couples. What do the new changes mean? The changes to the threshold will mean single claimants must work at least 18 hours per week at the National Living Wage .

If you don’t up your hours, or keep looking for work, you could be sanctioned. This could see your benefit being paused or stopped.
