The parents of a cyclist who was run over and killed express their concerns about the lack of safety measures at the junction where the accident occurred. The parents of a cyclist who was run over and killed say the junction where their daughter lost her life was “an accident waiting to happen”. Emma, 22, was rushed to hospital after the crash at 10am on January 27, 2023, at the junction of Broomielaw and the King George V Bridge, but sadly died around an hour later. The parents expressed their concerns about the lack of safety measures at the junction and mentioned that GoBike had previously pointed out the issue to the Glasgow City Council.

They hope that a safer junction with a dedicated cycle lane will be implemented soon. The driver involved in the accident was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work and a one-year driving ban

But at his sentencing hearing this week, he was ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for 12 months.
