The friends of two Palestinian sisters imprisoned by their father warn that their lives are at risk. Amnesty International is demanding the authorities take ‘urgent action’
That was their last contact with the outside world. They had been in hiding after trying to escape their father who had previously beaten and imprisoned them.to raise awareness of their plight, the sisters are locked up on the sixth floor of their family’s residential building in Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip.
Amnesty International said in a statement that the sisters were arrested just before midnight on Thursday 5 January – without a warrant or any explanation – by the security services in the Gaza Strip and handed over to their paternal uncle, who drove them to their father’s home.
