Now Charles’ widow Catherine has vowed to carry on her husband’s work by volunteering in the superstore. She told how her husband of almost 50 years retired from his career as a civil engineer after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016.

“We were heartbroken to lose him last September. At Charles’ funeral, the congregation raised £920 for Cancer Research UK. Now I have started to volunteer in the superstore which I know he would be delighted with and I know Charles would have been so proud to see the volunteers pick up this award.”
