Pinch-hit RBIs by Luis Campusano and Ji-Man Choi in seventh inning help Padres complete sweep; Seth Lugo turns in 16th quality start
The Padres on Wednesday afternoon won their seventh consecutive game, coming from behind to beat the Rockies 3-2 at Petco Park.That completed a sweep and extended the season-high win streak that began Sept. 13 at Dodger Stadium and continued through three-game sweeps of the team with the American League’s worst record and the National League’s worst record .
Most important, at least ostensibly, it got the Padres to three games under .500 with nine games remaining. Down 2-1, the Padres loaded the bases in the seventh on a leadoff walk by Juan Soto and one-out single by Garrett Cooper against Rockies starter Chase Anderson. After Trent Grisham replaced Cooper as a pinch-runner at second base and Justin Lawrence replaced Anderson on the mound, Matthew Batten reached on a bunt that died in the grass near the third base line.
