Melissa Hoy already has paid $20,000 of the $76,480 ordered in restitution.
SUNBURY – A Northumberland County woman who admitted participating with her estranged husband in a power of attorney scheme to steal $80,170 from a great aunt suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease has been placed on five years’ probation.
Todd J. Hoy, 53, was sentenced in June to 23 months’ probation and payment of $3,690 in restitution. He had pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit theft. An audit determined between August 2013 and June 2016 that cash was received back from 72 of the 80 deposits of Snook’s checks.
