Dr. Raymond J. Kraynak was sentenced after a federal judge denied his motion to withdraw his guilty plea.
WILLIAMSPORT – A Northumberland County doctor who proclaimed “I am absolutely innocent” has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for prescribing drugs not for a legitimate medical reason.
The sentence also includes restitution totaling $22,365 to several of the victims or their families, three years of supervised release and a $2,000 fine. He may not have contact with any of the victims’ families. He testified pleading guilty was probably the hardest thing he has done in his life because he wasn’t.
“We wanted to get him home as soon as possible,” Thornton said, adding he told Kraynak he could be sentenced to 240 years if found guilty of the 12 counts to which he pleaded and received consecutive sentences.
