Senior Judge Harold E. Woelfel Jr. dismissed for lack of evidence charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction. A June trial on the same charges ended in a mistrial.The verdict was the latest in a series of controversies involving Leschniskie.if he did not within 10 days withdraw his nominating petitions for a two-year term on Shamokin City Council.
The judge found Leschinskie’s two 2009 felony drug convictions were “infamous crimes” as defined by the state constitution. The constitution states those convicted of such crimes may not hold office. His wife Tonya was appointed to fill his vacancy through this year, but he said she was not interested in seeking election.charges of driving under the influence of marijuanaState police claimed his speech appeared slurred, his eyes were glassy and when taken to the hospital he couldn’t remember what happened.
