New owner Jacob Torres announced the comeback on the restaurant's Facebook fan page Monday. Since then, the post has been inundated with positive and hopeful comments. Villa Arcos closed in February 2021 due to the COVID-19 crisis, Torres said. His cousin and the previous owner, Christian Navarro, attempted to reopen but he wasn't able to due to staffing shortages and the pandemic.
The taco joint has long been a favorite of Chronicle restaurant critic Alison Cook, and landed a spot on her"It's hard to smile and chew at the same time.
