Organisers of this year's women's soccer World Cup in Australia and New Zealand are hoping to attract record viewership of up to two billion viewers for the tournament, Football Australia chief executive James Johnson has said.

"And we know we'll get a good audience from the traditional football markets, like the United Kingdom, like Europe. We're also in a time zone where all the big populations are. Our neighbours are China and Indonesia. "It was extremely inspiring. We were watching that tournament very, very closely. And we took a lot of learnings from that tournament," Johnson said.

Australia start their campaign against Ireland before facing Nigeria and Olympic champions Canada in Group B.
