Indonesia's geothermal potential is very large. However, realization is only around 10 percent of the potential. The government's seriousness is needed if we hope that geothermal energy can be optimized and become a mainstay of clean energy in the future.
Vice President Ma'ruf Amin opened The 9th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition 2023 in Jakarta, on Wednesday .
To optimize the increase of clean energy sources, especially geothermal energy, Vice President Amin requested an improvement in data quality and incentives in geothermal exploration activities. Therefore, the risk of geothermal development in Indonesia can be reduced. The selling price of geothermal electricity can be more competitive.
The Vice President has also requested that regional governments and geothermal developers work together to maximize the potential of direct utilization of geothermal energy, both for processing in the agricultural sector, educational recreational facilities, as well as tourism in managed regions.
