In a historic first, SpaceX launched two NASA astronauts, Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley, to the International Space Station on Saturday. This signals a new paradigm for the US space program and perhaps forecasts even bigger changes for international cooperation in space. Meg UrryPreviously, only government agencies ferried humans into space: NASA in the US, Roscosmos in Russia, and China's National Space Administration. Now, private US space companies are building and testing their own launch vehicles and conducting an increasing number of domestic launches.
