Opinion: A note for every student challenged by the pandemic [Opinion]
I also struggled throughout seventh grade, with not being able to keep up with classes, not having the mental capacity to complete assignments and losing motivation to even attend classes online. That same year, I was diagnosed with depression, at the age of 13. But my assigned counselor constantly checked up on me, and my science and Spanish teachers asked me to stay behind after class that year.
Those were times I wish that students would never face. It caused me to have bad relationships with others, including my family, my friends and those around me.As the year ended, my situation did not get much better. My grades did not get much better either. I barely had any friends, although things were clearing up. We received news that classes would be in-person. My mindset had changed, truly aspiring for the better, and many others thought similarly, even my peers.
Even though the COVID-19 disease was not gone and many were still getting infected, it was a new step forward. It was the new normal. My classmates were getting infected with COVID-19, including my closest friends. I also became infected with COVID-19 during the last week of school. I was scared that I wouldn’t make it to my promotion, but I recovered the day before.
