Fans were relieved when the reason became clear
Only Fools and Horses fans were sent into panic after actor Sir David Jason, best known for his role as Del Boy, began trending on Twitter. The 82-year-old, who has a knighthood for his services to acting and comedy, appeared on the top trends in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, August 9, and fans of the TV legend feared the worst.
However, the emotions of the 'scared' fans quickly changed from sadness to relief after finding out that the actor was trending for a different reason than they initially thought. One fan wrote: "When you see David Jason trending... panic over he's not dead." While another tweeted: "David Jason trending, worried me for a hot moment. Don't do this to us."
And one fan had a request directly for Twitter: "Dear @TwitterSupport, when David is trending, would you add "not dead" after his name. Cheers."But to the relief of Only Fools and Horses fans, Sir David was trending for a completely different reason. A photo of what appears to be the actor aged 14 caused his name to trend. At that age, Sir David was living at Lodge Lane, in North Finchley in North London. He was attending Northfield Secondary Modern school, reports My London.
Commenting on the photo of the young actor, fans wrote: "Saw David Jason trending and felt so scared to even see what it was for... thank god it was for this." While another said: "Del 'boy'". And two Twitter users said 14-year-old Sir David "looks like Ant McPartlin". Sir David's character, Del Boy, was famed for having high hopes of becoming very wealthy, constantly promising younger brother Rodney that "this time next year, we'll be millionaires". The British sitcom was turned into a musical in 2019 and premiered at Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End. The show had to close its doors during the Covid-19 pandemic. It reopened in October 2021 and has been extended until October 2022.
