homeowners probably don’t need any stats to confirm what they already know from their lawns that have started to turn brown: Last month turned out to be one of the driest Mays on record in some areas of the Garden State.

The super-dry May has pushed several areas of the Garden State back into “abnormally dry” status on the latest drought maps released by the. All of Warren County now has that designation, along with parts of Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Salem and Sussex counties. . But some regions of the state have shown signs of “moderately dry” or “severely dry” stream flows during the past 90 days.The lack of rain in recent weeks has also started to take its toll on some lawns.

Abnormally dry conditions have returned to Warren County, along with parts of Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Salem and Sussex counties, according to the latest drought maps released by the National Drought Mitigation Center on June 1, 2023.Forecasters say New Jersey’s dry trend will continue today and Friday, as temperatures heat up, before a threat ofcomes late Friday and during parts of the day on Saturday.
