Olympic skier Jeremy Nubis, who earned the title of 'The Icon' during his pro career, died Wednesday in the Iron County jail where he was awaiting sentencing on a DUI charge.

In 1994, Nobis competed for Team USA in the slalom and giant slalom at the Lillehammer Olympics in Norway, taking ninth in the latter. Todd Jones, in a video about the moment, described Nobis as “this long-haired, fiery ex-racer. Just a crazy ball of intensity and energy.”
