An old shopping precinct in Wigan is set to be demolished to make way for housing. The site will be transformed into 59 homes as part of a wider regeneration project in the area. Developer Keepmoat Homes has been granted permission to build a total of 169 homes on five parcels of land. The demolition work is scheduled to begin in January.

All the properties will have private rear gardens and designated off road car parking. Wigan council signed off a decision to release the land this week. "As vacant possession of the retail units has been obtained and the demolition of the buildings will commence imminently," papers read.
