BREAKING: The Oklahoma Supreme Court struck down two state laws banning abortion.

The court ruled six to three that the statute’s requirement of a “medical emergency” for the mother to justify an abortion is too restrictive of the “inherent right of a pregnant woman to terminate a pregnancy when necessary to save her life.”Both of the bills were passed in 2022 and signed into law by first-term Gov. Kevin Stitt last May. Stitt campaigned on the promise to sign all anti-abortion legislation sent to him.

The laws were enforced by civil rather than criminal codes, allowing private citizens to sue abortion providers in the state.
