The Ohio State women's basketball has won three games against NCAA tournament-caliber teams in the past three weeks, beating Nebraska 80-70.

The longshot hope of getting a share of the Big Ten title stayed alive on Thursday night for the Ohio State women’s basketball team.

It would take close to a miracle to earn a share of the regular-season conference crown, having no games remaining against Michigan and Indiana. But the win over Nebraska bolstered the Buckeyes case for better seeding in the NCAA tournament as well as a potential bye until the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament by finishing in the top four in the Big Ten.

Ohio State jumped out to an 11-7 lead off of back-to-back 3s from Mikesell, but Nebraska stormed back and ended up taking a 27-19 lead inside the first minute of the second quarter on 3-pointer by Isabelle Bourne. From there, both teams couldn’t buy a bucket. Mikesell scored 11 points in the quarter, making back-to-back 3-pointers at the start of the quarter and splashing the net upward on a high-arcing shot from 25 feet out with 30 seconds remaining to take a 59-46 lead.

“In the beginning of the season I didn’t know exactly what my role was,” Thierry said. “But I think I’ve gotten really comfortable defensively. I know I can excel offensively, too. I just need to get better at that.”
