The Ohio Constitution will guarantee residents the right to hunt and fish within the state, if a new proposed ballot issue makes it on the ballot and is approved by voters. COLUMBUS, Ohio — Republican lawmakers are targeting the November 2024 election for a proposed new ballot issue that would guarantee the right to hunt and fish in the state constitution.
The measure would need to get support from three-fifths of the Ohio House and Senate, where Republicans hold supermajorities, to get placed on the ballot for approval by voters. “I am particularly concerned about the proliferation of deer in Ohio, and I thought by doing this, it sends a message not only to Ohioans but those outside of Ohio that Ohio is open to hunting and fishing,” Brennan said “And I thought I think by doing this, it sends a message to not only Ohioans, but those outside of Ohio, that Ohio is open to hunting and fishing.”are model legislation that has been advanced nationally by the National Rifle Association.
