DAYTON, Ohio — A Dayton man is facing up to 20 years in prison after he admitted to distributing a mixture of fentanyl and cocaine that resulted in four deaths. Kelsey Williams Jr., 40, pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio. Williams was indicted in May 2021 and arrested in Minnesota in June 2021.
According to prosecutors, Williams distributed the fentanyl-cocaine mix on New Year’s Eve 2018 and New Year’s Day 2019. The drugs were blamed for four fatal overdoses and two nonfatal overdoses. This case is being prosecuted as part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge , a program aimed at reducing the supply of synthetic opioids in 10 high-impact areas and identifying wholesale distribution networks and international and domestic suppliers.
