Oceanside police arrested a man Sunday morning in connection with a predawn machete attack and
standoff. Police responded to a report of a stabbing shortly after 12:50 a.m. outside a home on Leon Street near East Parker Street and found a man who had apparently been hit by a machete, police said. The victim was transported to a hospital with an injury not thought to be life threatening, Lt. Damon Smith said. The man was stabbed after a dispute between neighbors led to a fight, according to police Lt. Adam Morales.
officers were called out and tried to get the suspect to surrender. Residents were told to shelter in place during the incident, Smith said. Shortly after 5 a.m. police arrested a 51-year-old man, Smith said. The incident remains under investigation and it is unclear if other suspects are being sought. No other details were immediately available.
