Violence erupted when he found her having sex with Andrew McLullich, 42An 'obsessed' ex-policeman, who caught his wife having sex with a married colleague in a Screwfix car park, has narrowly avoided going to jail after he was found guilty of stalking.
Harper denied starting the violence and said that Mr McLullich, 42, repeatedly attacked him and that he had punched back three or four times in self-defence. He said his wife also kicked him to the side, which she denied. The 45-year-old was cleared of wounding after a two-week trial at Liverpool Crown Court but was found guilty of stalking with intent to cause serious alarm or distress to Ms Glynn, including placing trackers on her car.
Judge Potter said that the couple's marriage deteriorated in 2020 and, by December that year, she was in text contact with Mr McLullich, formerly one of her acting sergeants.The judge said that on December 14 2020, under the pretence of needing her telephone, Harper took her personal and work phones to discover the extent of communication between the couple.
The jury heard Harper had not been able to accept that his marriage had completely broken down and Glynn was leaving. The couple had been together for six years before marrying in 2018Ms Glynn then stayed with her parents in Formby and Harper downloaded her Snapchat history with Mr McLullich. She returned to live with her husband later that month.
Judge Potter said that Harper followed Ms Glynn not to alert Merseyside police 'but out of a sense of vengeance'. He had ignored advice from the police force's professional standards department in 2020.
