“We call on MTA to please back down now,” Gottheimer said. “Find another solution that doesn’t squeeze more blood out of the Jersey stone.” “The solution here is clear: MTA will not ask its riders to be the source of funding for MTA expenses, so it is disguising the issue as environmental policy and is asking New Jersey Commuters to fund it,” said Ron Simoncini, executive director of the Fair Congestion Pricing Alliance.
Still an issue is whether drivers that use the George Washington Bridge would receive credits for that toll to be applied toward a $23 congestion pricing fee to drive south of 60th Street. Credits for Lincoln and Holland Tunnel tolls was recommended in an earlier congestion pricing report.
