With coronavirus precautions quickly building traction in North America, makeup and skincare brand Glossier has temporarily closed all retail locations. This will last for at least two weeks in an attempt to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus, and the brand will compensate employees for their scheduled time throughout the closure.
Glossier founder and CEO Emily Weiss announced in a letter that closing was not an easy decision, and that she has a “heavy heart” in knowing that official orders for social distancing are basically the opposite of the brand’s ethos. Weiss’sreads, in part: “[I] reconsidered my original position [during this outbreak] of “let’s follow, not lead” on the retail front. ‘If stores start closing, we’ll quickly follow suit. If foot traffic drops, we’ll close.
