Mansfield Town remain the only unbeaten team in League Two and it showed at Meadow Lane
The derby day bragging rights went to Mansfield Town, who maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 4-1 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane. Dan Crowley gave the hosts the lead inside three minutes, only for Louis Reed to level midway through the first half.
Sam Slocombe was given the nod in goal over league regular and former Mansfield stopper Aidan Stone after the former’s impressive performance in the midweek EFL Trophy tie against Derby County.
Mansfield played the perfect counter-attacking game, dealing well with the Magpies possession-dominant style, with 21 shots compared to the home side’s nine. In Notts’ two other league defeats, they conceded five goals in each and let in four on this occasion against their Nottinghamshire rivals, which is an emerging theme Luke Williams and his team will want to get on top of moving forward.
