Maguire claims that the Midlands side’s high-risk strategy could backfire if a deal is not announced soon.“Forest have a very ambitious strategy when it comes to trying to negotiate a front-of-shirt deal in the region of £10m“If you talk to commercial directors from other clubs that have been promoted, they are normally trying to tie up a deal with a betting company that might pay £6m or £7m. Non-betting companies are lower.
“There isn’t a huge amount of deals to go around at this point in the season because most of them have been signed up. “If Forest do that, it will have to be classified as a major coup, a feather in their cap. But the closer to the start of the season they get, the harder that will become. “Sponsors want every single match. If we get to the end of August and nothing has been signed, especially with the World Cup which has accelerated the number of mid-week games, I think it could be challenging.”
