Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds prepare for Premier League clash with the Hatters
The Reds take on Luton Town at the City Ground, where they will be aiming to get back to winning ways after four games without a victory. Steve Cooper’s side currently sit 13th in the Premier League table with nine points from eight games.
But it’s really exciting to think how good he can be. He’s still a bit raw and rough around the edges, but he’s got bags of potential and is clearly very talented. He definitely deserves to keep his place against Luton on Saturday. That might well mean Moussa Niakhate has to settle for a spot in the bench, which says a lot about just how well Murillo has done.
This next run of fixtures does look a little trickier, on paper. After Luton, it’s Liverpool away, Aston Villa at home and West Ham away before the next break. Having a more settled side, as you mention, should help with that. Players are starting to get used to playing with each other. There is still some way to go with that, but you can see the team is beginning to gel.
He looked so sharp prior to the injury and had started the season really well. I was really hopeful that he could hit the 20-goal mark this season if he got a clear run without too many injury problems. He still might get there. Cooper praised the work Wood did and said that paved the way for a strong finish to the game. I’m still not sure Forest got the best out of him, though; to do that, it might mean a change in approach.
Q: Yatesy has been pivotal to success at Forest but I fear he's now a way down the order. How does Cooper keep him and others motivated, as I'm sure we'll need him to step in at some point?
