The latest Nottingham Forest news as the club await the outcome of their hearing for alleged Profitability & Sustainability Rules breaches
Simon Jordan believes the current Profitability & Sustainability Rules are unfair to Nottingham Forest.
However, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan makes the point that once they were promoted Forest were hamstrung by the existing rules which stipulate losses should not exceed an average of £13milllion per year in the Championship and £35m in the top flight. Two of Forest’s qualifying years were at the lower figure putting them at a spending disadvantage at a time when they needed to invest to retain their hard-won status.
“It doesn't alter the fact that their owner was profligate and spent far too much money, had to get the balance right, knew what he was doing.” “It is not the same argument but I do agree there needs to be a better sophistication. Now is 85% of turnover on wages better than £35 million a season losses? That's the question, because if it is, it's moving in the right direction.
