A Northern Ireland mum has opened up on the heartbreaking loss of her teenage son to cancer almost a year ago and how the family received a helping hand during their darkest hour. Becky Burton and her family were struck by unimaginable tragedy when in 2022 her son, Leroy, was suddenly hospitalised with a shock diagnosis of acute myelogenous leukaemia after complaining of a sore throat.
Within only three days of being diagnosed, his condition became so aggressive that Leroy ended up fighting for his life in ICU at Belfast City Hospital. Devastatingly, the cancer was aggressive and Leroy, 19, endured months and months in hospital while having several serious bouts of high intensity chemotherapy
