The secretary of state makes announcement during a visit to Newry, one of the areas badly hit by flooding.
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris has said up to £15m will be made available to flood victims in Northern Ireland.Mr Heaton-Harris made the announcement in Newry, County Down, one of the areas badly hit by recent heavy rainfall.Some businesses have said that they have suffered thousands of pounds worth of damage due to the flooding.
Mr Heaton-Harris said the money will "help with clean-up costs and support businesses to resume trading". He said: "I can only imagine how people must be feeling to see the destruction these floods have brought to areas they've invested so much in. "Those who have suffered damage need reassurance that support will be available. This is rightly something which a devolved executive should be able to deliver."
However he added that in the absence of an executive, the UK government will make the money available.
