Hawnby is one of the first places in England to be named a dark skies friendly site.
The stars light up the night sky around South Farm in HawnbyResidents in a North Yorkshire village now have "incredible views" of the stars thanks to a new dark sky project.
"I think there was a bit of nervousness at the start, thinking we were going to be banning light," he said. The project is part of the Dark Skies Friendly scheme to reduce light pollution and was first launched by the North York Moors National Park in 2019.The Milky Way above the Mexborough Estate
