Forecasters from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center are calling for a warmer than usual spring season in New Jersey and most of the eastern United States in 2023, according to forecast maps issued Thursday, March 16. They also are predicting a slight chance of above-average precipitation this spring.
In addition to being mild, the spring season of 2022 turned out to be New Jersey’s 33rd wettest spring since 1895. This map released by NOAA on March 16, 2023 shows areas of the United States with the highest threat of flooding during the upcoming spring season.During a NOAA press briefing when the spring outlook was released, officials noted that recent waves of stormy weather and heavy rain has helped ease serious drought conditions in California, as well as in the northern and central Plains.
