Archbishop Spalding (MD) over No. 4 Don Bosco Prep - Football recap
Washington, a junior, snapped a 7-7 tie and put Archbishop Spalding in front for good when he threw a screen pass to RJ Newton, who broke a tackle and went the distance for a 22-yard touchdown with 1:24 left in the first quarter. Washington’s 10-yard TD run extended the lead to 21-7 into halftime, then, in the third quarter Aaron Igwebe caught a 21-yard pass from Washington for his second TD reception of the night.
Igwebe had five receptions for 117 yards and Washington completed 15-of-27 passes for 247 yards and an interception for Archbishop Spalding, which avenged a 48-28 loss to Don Bosco Prep last year in Ramsey. In the first quarter, Kyle Ramos tipped a Washington pass that was intercepted by Jayden Brown. Five plays later, Deven Sisler found an open Alvarez in the end zone for a 4-yard TD. Alvarez found the end zone again late in the fourth quarter when he caught an 11-yard TD pass from Tyler O’Daniels.
