From 0-19 to the NCAA Tournament, Prairie View A&M softball team charts remarkable course
Coach Patty Gasso’s top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners are the first opponent for Prairie View A&M in the NCAA softball tournament. The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers are living proof a teetering ship can right itself with enough willpower and then glide right into the NCAA Tournament on an incredible boost of buoyancy.
The reward for the Lady Panthers is facing top-ranked Oklahoma in an NCAA regional at Norman, Okla. The teams square off at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the opening round. “If we can beat Minnesota, we know we’re going to see Oklahoma most likely in that next game,” Texas A&M coach Jo Evans said of the double-elimination format, figuring the Sooners were going to top the Lady Panthers. “And then most likely would have to beat them again.”That’s a tall task for both A&Ms in the OU regional, but Bland isn’t backing down.
