Darwin Nunez fluffed his lines against Luton Town on Sunday
The Egyptian, so perplexed by Darwin Nunez's glaring, second-half miss against Luton Town, dropped to the floor as Liverpool's hopes of landing an elusive opening goal began to fade into the night.
As has so often been the case for the Uruguayan since his £64m transfer from Benfica, this week has been a case of a seismic step forward quickly by two baffling steps back. But for all that the Uruguayan has done well, this season has also underlined why a potential club-record deal to sign the 23-year-old was so heavily incentivised, with an extra £21m being made available to Benfica should Nunez achieve pre-agreed performance criteria.
Numerically, Nunez is impressing too. In fact, no one in the Premier League is averaging more shots on target per 90 minutes than Liverpool's No.9 , while posting a more-than-respectable return of a goal or an assist roughly every 72 minutes in his 10 league appearances this campaign.
