The resignations were caused by guidance from Labour blocking motions on Gaza.
Nine members of a local Labour party have quit their posts after claiming they had been gagged on the situation in Gaza.
The tensions follow a spate of resignations over Keir Starmer’s comment that Israel had the “right” to withhold water and power from Gaza as a response to Hamas terrorism. Local Labour parties were also issued with guidance to the effect that they should not table motions on Gaza. “Immediately after publication of the meeting agenda, party officials wrote to all CLPs saying that 'any motions' about Gaza would be 'out of order and should not be debated at party Meetings'.”
