The UK Covid Inquiry confirmed possible witnesses like the former first minister are not prevented from speaking to the press.
Nicola Sturgeon is under growing pressure to say whether she deleted WhatsApp messages relating to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sturgeon told reporters on Tuesday she could not share more information as "the requested and the responses at this stage are confidential until the inquiry says otherwise - so I can’t and will not go into the detail of those responses right now". Both Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes - who were Cabinet ministers during the pandemic - have this week confirmed they kept WhatsApp messages from the time and will hand them over to the inquiry.Asked if she had kept hers, Forbes said: "I have. I haven't deleted anything, I've retained all relevant correspondence - and that includes retaining all my WhatsApp messages.
