Nicholas Hoult has a blink-and-miss-it cameo role in Deadpool 2. Who does the Renfield and The Menu star play in the self-aware superhero sequel?
Nicholas Hoult has a quick cameo role in Deadpool 2 that winks at both the actor’s career and the X-Men franchise’s history. After the success of the first Deadpool movie, the producers were able to fill Deadpool 2 with A-list cameos from Brad Pitt as the Vanisher and Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk as two guys who discuss the merits of different toilet paper varieties before a time-traveling Cable steals their truck.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Hoult started as a child actor when he co-starred with Hugh Grant in About a Boy and gained further recognition for his role as Tony Stonem in Skins, which made him a star. The actor has since appeared in such movies as Warm Bodies, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Menu. Hoult was also cast as the title character opposite Nicolas Cage’s Dracula in the horror comedy Renfield, in which Dracula’s familiar and henchman takes the spotlight.
In addition to Hoult, this scene features James McAvoy as Professor X, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. This scene hilariously implies that Deadpool hasn’t seen the other X-Men in his movies simply because they’re avoiding him.

Beast, the blue-haired superhero alter ego of Hank McCoy, is one of Hoult’s longest-running roles, with Deadpool 2 being just a small part of that run. He also shares some similarities with one of Hoult’s other high-profile characters: the eponymous hero in Renfield.
