Ivan Fedotov, 25, had signed to play for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Dodging the draft is punishable by up to two years imprisonment and a fine of up to 200,000 roubles .

Fedotov has been detained in Russia.Fedotov's lawyer Alexei Ponomarev told state news outlet RIA Novosti that he cannot contact the hockey player and does not know his whereabouts.
He told the publication:"At the moment, there is no connection with Ivan. We are investigating the situation. Is it known where he is? Unfortunately no. We are investigating." Fedotov fell ill when he was at the enlistment office in St. Petersburg and was later hospitalized, according to RIA Novosti. On Sunday, Ponomarev said Fedotov had reportedly been sent to Severomorsk, in the Kola Penninsula to the far north, at night.
