Many of Thursday's papers analyse how soaring inflation will affect people's lives in the UK.
No single story dominates Thursday's newspapers, although different takes on the cost-of-living crisis feature on many front pages. The Times says No 10 is resisting pressure for a windfall tax on energy companies on the grounds that it would be "ideologically unconservative". It says Treasury officials think such a tax is "politically unavoidable" but are being blocked by the prime minister's advisers.
The Financial Times says the chancellor has warned of a "tough" few months after Wednesday's new figures put UK inflation among the highest of any advanced economy in the world. It says Rishi Sunak told business leaders: "There is no measure any government could take, no law we could pass, that can make these global forces disappear overnight."The Daily Telegraph leads on Ukraine.
