Cuomo in recent weeks has urged professional sports leagues, which are largely headquartered in New York, to work on ways to return safely without fans.
Cuomo said New York teams should be able to start practices in hopes of getting their seasons underway without fans.
But the impact of Cuomo's announcement is uncertain. Teams are essentially waiting for directives from their leagues before resuming any official activities. "Work out the economics if you can. We want you up," Cuomo continued."We want people to be able to watch sport. To the extent people are still staying home, it gives people something to do. It's a return to normalcy."
