Measures New York lawmakers are looking at include criminalizing the use of chokeholds and repealing a 40-year-old statute that keeps police disciplinary records hidden from public view

ALBANY, N.Y.—New York state lawmakers are set to take up a dozen bills this week in response to recent protests over police violence, including a measure that will make officer disciplinary records more transparent.

The state Assembly and Senate, both controlled by Democrats, will take up the legislation starting Monday afternoon, according to spokesmen for their leaders. Bills were finalized over the weekend after talks between the legislative houses and with outside advocacy groups.
