Mayor Bill de Blasio said the priority for public schools in September is health and safety and that if the city’s positive test rates break above 3% then remote learning will prevail
New York City school buildings will open only if the city’s rate of positive coronavirus tests is less than 3% using a seven-day rolling average, officials said Friday.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said that if schools open for in-person instruction and the city exceeds that threshold, public school buildings will close again and switch to remote learning. The mayor called it a very rigorous standard that will balance the importance of getting students back to the classroom with the need to keep everyone safe.
